Adjustable Trammel Hook

Trammel hooks are an essential tool for camping enthusiasts and anyone who loves cooking over an open flame. A trammel hook is a traditional tool for cooking. Historically it was used for cook fires in fireplaces. If you look at the first image of the product you’ll see two of these being used in an old 1800’s home where the owner still cooks in the fireplace. The picture is from a customer who bought two of these adjustable trammel hooks just for that purpose.

If you know anyone who enjoys doing reenacting, and they camp out for it, then this would make a wonderfully accurate tool for them to use and take with them on their adventures. This is often paired with fire irons to hang pots over the campfire.

The adjustable trammel hook is forged from 1/4″ x 3/4″ solid steel with the adjustable hook being forged from 1/4″ steel. The hook itself, what’s going to hang on to a metal bar, can fit up to a 3/4″ diameter. It’s capable of holding quite a bit of weight so no worries about losing your food to the fire.

The hook is finished with beeswax to be food safe. You will want to keep it out of the weather as much as possible to avoid rusting. However, that shouldn’t be much of an issue once it gets used a few times. The metal will season and darken to give it protection from the weather.
