This spatula features a handle around 16″ in length. The spatula itself is around 5″ long; giving you a reach of 21″. This keeps you away from the heat and with a tool strong enough to handle that distance. The heavy duty grill spatula handle is forged from 1/2″ mild steel and the spatula itself from 16 gauge steel. Handle is attached with rivets and won’t be coming apart in your lifetime. I always use traditional blacksmith joinery when I can. It gives a very strong attachment but the rivets also add a nice rustic look as well. It looks hand-forged.
The length also works great for cooking on a fire. If you’ve got a grill setup on a campfire, then this will keep your hands far away from the heat. It’s not fun burning your knuckles while you’re trying to cook.
The 1/2″ thick handle I find to be a great size as it feels comfortable in your hand. The added twist in the handle gives it a nice feel as well. It also means this bad boy is going to hold up to years and years of abuse.
The looped handle gives you a nice place to hang the spatula from on your grill, on a hook, or wherever you’d like.
Cleanup is just a matter of wiping it down when you’re done. Treat it like cast iron and it will last you forever.
