Coated with a protective finish the fiddlehead hair stick is safe from the elements and it gives a satiny shine that’s smooth to the touch. While there is a protective coating on there I would not leave these out in the weather (ran, sleet, snow, etc) for prolonged periods of time. If you feel the need to wash the hair stick then do it by hand and immediately dry it with a towel.
The length you buy is for straight section you’ll be inserting; the overall length is longer. So the 6″ hair stick has an overall length of 7.5″ with 6″ being the straight section. The 7″ is 8.5″ overall and the 8″ is 9.5″ overall length.
